Which one is the most preferred anesthesia type in dental treatments of patients with special needs: sedation or general anesthesia?

Aim: Patients with special needs, who have mental, physical or medical disabilities, were reported to worse oral hygiene than their healthy peers. Disabled patients are usually uncooperated, and dental treatments of these completed under several anesthesia types. Our aim was compare types in needs. Material Method: The study included review uncooperated patients, had mental between June 1, 2021 2022. divided into three groups due types; sedation (Group S), laryngeal mask airway (LMA) L), nasotracheal intubation N). Results: In total 80 analyzed; 4 excluded, 45 Group S, 19 L, 12 N. Anesthesia times significantly different groups; 20 min 25 Propofol use low (p<0.001) ketamine high S (p=0.002). Number tooth extractions not groups, but number filling N Conclusion: Sedation the most preferred type treatment Although all can be used safely treatments, we suggest that considered as first choice extraction deemed appropriate by anesthesiologist dentist.
